Claire's Triathlon Challenge raises £364.50

Our Co-Chair Claire Hicks took part in the annual Hereford Sprint Triathlon last year after spending several months training for the event.  Pouring rain and last minute technical changes added to what was already quite a challenge for our Claire!  Competitors struggled to keep warm and dry and the handling of the road bikes with their slick tyres proved all the more tricky  during the 16km cycle. Despite all this, Claire's "in for a penny, in for a pound" attitude meant that she was not to be put off her goal of completing the course (A 2km run, followed by a 16km cycle and a further 5km run to finish) and, in spite of the weather and a calf injury, she crossed the finish line in 1:13:58 as the 6th female veteran in the race.  This is an amazing achievement for a girl who underwent radical breast reconstruction and chemotherapy in 2005.  Well done Claire!

Breast Friends Bling Ball 2009 raises over £11000

February's Ball was another fabulous success and raised over £11,000 for our charity.  Don Maclean was a roaring success and led the auction which raised in excess of £3,000 alone.  Thanks must go to Bethan Lloyd Owen and all the dedicated Ball committee for their hard work staging such a spectactular event.
